Lazy River Vineyard

The site of The Lumpkin Family's Lazy River Vineyard is remarkable. The south slope emerged thousands of years ago when a violent earth movement fractured the ancient glacial deposits left by the Missoula flow. It exposed a preponderance of deep Jory soil, highly regarded for the exceptional quality of Pinot Noir grapes grown in it.

The Lumpkins sell grapes and wine. Lazy River Vineyard's fruit is used by Oregon wineries, Hamacher, Panther Creek, Andrew Rich and Ponzi. Its first vintage 2002 Pinot Noir came to market in the fall of 2004. It is available at The Carlton Winemakers Studio or at LazyRiverVineyard.com where one might also learn more about a semi-retired couple's odyssey in the world of wine. Proprietors are Ned and Kirsten Lumpkin.
