OWNER AND FARMER STEPHEN HAGEN IS A GLOBAL THOUGHT AND PRACTICE LEADER IN THE REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE MOVEMENT.
He is quietly shepherding a paradigmatic shift in the concept of terroir and returning authenticity, transparency and truth to sustainability in winegrowing at his vineyard and farm outside of Monroe, Oregon.
Taking the symbiotic relationships of forest fungi and plants as his model, Hagen has built a self-sustaining vineyard through year-round rotational grazing of diverse livestock, using no fertilizers or outside inputs. This imaginative approach has untethered Antiquum Farm from historical, regional, and varietal expectation, creating one of the world’s most exuberantly expressive and individualistic vineyards from which he produces renowned Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.
This farm and its wines are an articulate translation of one family’s hopeful vision for their home and a future filled with life, energy, and abundance.
